Our ingredients
To make our feed, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better in our pellets. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.
Buffalo
At Yourdog we use meat from free-raised and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is full of vitamins and minerals. With a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.
Poultry
At Yourdog we use duck, chicken and turkey which together provide a delicious taste and aroma of the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle building and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetable

Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.
Icelandic dog specific vegetables, herbs and fruits
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Icelandic Dog. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Icelandic Dog belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionist, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Icelandic dog.
Licorice root
Licorice root is derived from the Greek glyks for Œsweet and rhiza for Œroot, so it is also called Glycyrrhiza glabra. The origin of the plant is in Eurasia, North Africa and West Asia. From ancient times, medicinal properties have been attributed to licorice and the root is often used for the preparation of herbal teas.
Licorice root would have a soothing effect on mucous membranes and would also have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. In addition, it can contribute to the recovery of the gastric mucosa and would be good for a sensitive gastrointestinal system.
Raspberries
The raspberry is a plant of the rose family and belongs to the genus Rubus. The cultivation of raspberries dates back to the Middle Ages and occurs naturally throughout Europe.
Raspberries contain many substances that can support the health of the dog, such as vitamins such as vitamin C, minerals such as manganese and antioxidants. Furthermore, raspberries are low in sugar and calories and rich in good fiber.

Tomato
The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayas. In 1893 in America it was decided that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.
At Yourdog we use tomato on a culinary level, we assume tomato as a vegetable.
Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories and have a high soluble fiber content which aids in digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives tomatoes their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. In addition to giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. For example, research has shown that lycopene can protect against cancer and can help with cardiovascular disease, among other things. In addition, tomato contains a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.
Tomato is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific complaints in relation to digestion, skin, vision and cardiovascular disease. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.
Puppy, adult or senior?
To help you make the right choice between our varieties of Icelandic dog dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Icelandic dog is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For an Icelandic dog older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Icelandic dog senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult version.

Switching advice
If you switch to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow the following steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then you feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then you mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely over to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Icelandic dog dog food.
Storage advice
After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect the shelf life and taste. That is why it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to put it in the barrel with the whole bag, which you close again as well as possible.
