Our ingredients

To make our feed, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better in our pellets. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog we use meat from free-raised and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is full of vitamins and minerals. With a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Estrela Mountain Dog. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Estrela mountain dog belongs. In consultation with leading Dutch nutritionist, ingredients have been selected from these studies that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Estrela mountain dog.

Peppermint

Peppermint is a plant from the lip flower family. It is the plant that led to the making of mints. Peppermint originated from a cross between watermint and spearmint. The plant was found in England in the seventeenth century in a field of mint plants. The plant is grown in England, France, China, Japan and in North and South America.

We can add peppermint to dog food because it could make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific complaints in relation to the intestines and gallbladder. Preventing itching is also one of the properties of the peppermint plant.

Peppermint can promote fresh breath. The mint in peppermint can have an anti-spasmodic effect on the gut and promotes the flow of bile in the gut. In addition, it can have an antiseptic effect.

Peppermint is rich in vitamins A and C and minerals such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium and phosphorus.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a body's own substance that can be found in joints, cartilage, synovial fluid and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates the production of cartilage and keeps joints flexible.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case with older dogs, or (too) heavy dogs, but also increasingly with younger, very agile dogs. For example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Raspberries

The raspberry is a plant of the rose family and belongs to the genus Rubus. The cultivation of raspberries dates back to the Middle Ages and occurs naturally throughout Europe.

Raspberries contain many substances that can support the health of the dog, such as vitamins such as vitamin C, minerals such as manganese and antioxidants. Furthermore, raspberries are low in sugar and calories and rich in good fiber.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Estrela mountain dog dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Estrela mountain dog is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For an Estrela mountain dog older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Estrela mountain dog senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Nutritional advice

Switching advice

If you switch to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow the following steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then you feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then you mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely over to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Estrela mountain dog dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect the shelf life and taste. That is why it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to put it in the barrel with the whole bag, which you close again as well as possible.
